AND DISTRICT
CATS PROTECTION

These are some cats we have helped:

Please be patient while pictures load

LOLA

Just an update to let you know how I am getting on in my new home! As you can see from the photo I love playing in the garden with my new friends Flash-also a Harrogate CP cat, and Daisy. We have great fun chasing each other around and jumping out on each other from under the bushes!!
Lola

TIGGER

This is Tigger, another success story for our branch.

MIA

This is Mia, another success story for our branch.

HOLLY AND IVY

These two, Holly and Ivy have been homed recently

BLUES

This is Blues. She has got a lovely home with a family in Harrogate and is settling in very well. She also has a new companion - a chocolate brown labrador. She was brought up with a dog and is quite happy to co-habit with her new companion. Whilst being cared for by fosterers, she had been rather nervous but is now becoming much more confident. This is another success story for our branch.

SPIC & SPAN

We promised to let you know how Reeves and Mortimer (aka Spic and Span) were getting on.
They are doing great, they were definitely the right choice for us, they are lovely cats, though not so little now, especially Mortimer (Span, with the smudge on his nose, the most timid of the two) who is a really solid boy who, whilst he can still be a bit jumpy, loves his cuddles, and will meow loudly at us for attention if he's not getting it. Reeves I think is going to be Mummy's boy, he's lovely and loves to be fussed. He drags himself along the floor as you stroke him so that you have to follow him along!
The only down side to them, possibly due to their beginning in life when they were allowed to run wild, is that they are very adept bird and frog killers. They now have collars with bells which seems to help but they still manage to catch them. At least they don't bring them into the house!
They are great friends with our two rabbits too. Sometimes we let the rabbits out in the garden, which is escape-proof, and the cats (under close supervision obviously) like to watch and run after them, but the rabbits come and chase them away. A few days ago when Stuart had cleaned out the hutch and left it to dry, he didn't think to check the hutch before putting the rabbits back in, put one rabbit in, turned to put the other in and saw Reeves fast asleep in the corner of the hutch!
Anyway, I just thought I would let you know how they're getting on - and they are great.
Kind regards.

BOOTS

This is Boots, now known as Zoe, who we homed last autumn. She was a very fussy eater while in our care and would touch little other than fried chicken. Her eating problems are now behind her. She is described as mischievous and much loved by her lady owner..

DOMINO

Domino is a young Black and White kitten who has been tested as FIV positive. He is absolutely gorgeous and needed to go to a loving home with someone who understands that he may become ill, and will therefore need more treatment at the vets than any other cat. He captured the heart of everyone who saw him.

Unfortunately he needed to be in an indoor location where he would not come into contact with other cats. A feature on Domino was put in the local paper with a photograph, and we asked if anyone would be willing to give him a home. We had a huge reponse and found a home where he is extremely happy, and has no desire to go outside.

KATIE

Pretty Katie, content in her new home

SOOTY and SWEEP

Sooty and Sweep were part of a large, badly malnourished family of cats that arrived at the branch in 2004. Not all of them pulled through, but these two are clearly doing fine!

TABATHA

Tabatha, who has clearly landed on her feet

MINNIE

Minnie.

JESSICA (a.k.a. Shandy)

Jessica came to the shelter in spring 2001 after being found abandoned and heavily pregnant. She gave birth to 4 kittens on May 8th, one of which was Rosie (a.k.a. Sue), pictured on the left.

Overweight Jessica lists her hobbies as food and eating, not necessarily in that order, while timid Rosie spends most of her life hiding beneath the duvet on her owners' bed, but sometimes hides behind the settee instead. When not hiding, Rosie shares her mother's passion for food. Both now live with branch co-ordinator David Tipping, and his wife, Janet.

PORTIA

A big thank you for finding us the most adorable torti female. Portia felt right at home as soon as we got her home. She has settled in very well, my husband would now be lost without her now so would I.
Portia is full of fun. Loving all the affection that we give her, loves been a lap cat. She as may other cats has her mad moment charging around the house like a cat possessed.
Many thanks for our beautiful cat.
Will send some pictures when we have some ready

Message received from Charlie 2nd Nov 04

Hello
My name is Charlie and I was born at Harrogate Cat Protection in August 2001. My home is in Ripon which I share with my adopted mother (Tiggy) and a newcomer (Blackie) who is a stray who has wandered into our life !
I am very happy and am so glad that I was born and given a chance in life. I am very loved and sometimes get stuck up trees and do daft things but must go now as it's time for a snooze again as it's past my bedtime !!
Love Charlie xx

JOE

Message and photo from Joe's new owner 22/10/04

Lois brought Joe on Mon. eve. He's gorgeous. He soon found his food, his litter tray, & that the bed in the back room is very comfy. Must be all the spare duvets under the bedspread. He's still a bit nervous but is rapidly getting over it & purrs a lot when he's cuddled & his ears are scratched & his tummy tickled.

POPPY

Dear Cats Protection
I am having a great time in my new home, and I am training my new keepers to look after me just how I want them too. They seem to be shaping up nicely.

Poppy

BASIL

This is Basil making the most of his wonderful new home.

DINKY and PIPPIN

Two more cats we have recently homed.

MILO'S KITTENS

These four came to us with their mum. They are now all enjoying new homes.

SMOKEY and GIZMO

These two have been tested, cared for, neutered and homed this summer.

SOOTY

Message and photo from Sooty's new owner 2/10/05

Sooty, now re-named Jess, has settled well alongside two resident toms in her new home. She has tested her owner's fire-fighting skills by twice getting stuck up large trees in the garden! She has also shown a worrying interest in paper money, especially £20 notes, which she picks up in her mouth from the bedside cabinet and stashes all over the house!
